A peek into the life that has made me..me!

As of 2011, I am 40 years old.

I was born and grew up in Lincolnshire, England.

I left school to become a hairdresser at 16 and while cutting hair was the love of my life, I also pursued such jobs as Nursing Assistant, Barmaid and Esthetician.

I got married to the only short-haired, non make-up wearing boyfriend I ever had in 1999 and I also gave birth to our Daughter the same year.

In 2001 I moved with my family from Lincolnshire, England to Ayrshire in Scotland, where we lived for almost four years before taking a huge leap of faith and emigrating to Alberta, Canada. We had never even visited before our move! We spent two years in Alberta before a move to New Brunswick, Canada, where we stayed for almost 3 years before returning ‘home’ to Alberta.

I have loved music (of all genres) my whole life. I started out listening to Classical and Motown along with some John Denver, Kenny Rogers, Val Doonican and Barry Manilow. We have my Mum and late Nan to thank for that.

I enjoy Vanessa Mae, Nigel Kennedy and Andre Boccelli, I like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga intrigues me. Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Bowie have my full attention.

In my younger years I listened to (and crushed on) Adam and the Ants and The Boomtown Rats, with a huge hiatus to Duran Duran at some point, moving quickly forward to AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, not forgetting a smattering of The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Damned, before meeting my friend and cohort who introduced me to ‘Hair metal/Glam/Cock Rock’ (call it what you will)…. Motley Crue, Faster Pussycat, Guns n Roses, Warrant, Poison, RATT, I could go on, but I won’t!

I went to my first gig at the age of 15, on a bus full of long-haired make-up wearing 17-year-old boys. I will never forget it!

I have met such musical types as Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Peter Criss, Taime Downe, Lemmy, Zakk Wylde, Scott Ian and Blackie Lawless.

While all this music has consumed my life, I have, out of necessity and need to make a living forged a career around fashion and beauty, and now I have the chance to, I am going to write too!

I am pretty opinionated, but that does not make me right, it merely means that we differ in our view and I am going to tell you what I think regardless. It is after all my birth right to have an opinion, like I have said before, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. Then again, some people are just arseholes! See below for a deeper explanation!

This is where my ‘music blog’ comes in……….
